and we are like totally not prepared at all.

I was talking to Wifey a few days back and we were saying that we could be one of the most bo-chap first-time parents ever. Hahahaha. We didn’t buy much for Reyes nor prepare much for him also. I guess we decide that material things are not as important as the love that we are going to bestow on him.

So far, we have

  1. Cot – Reused from Wifey’s bro
  2. Milk Bottle – Free from Wifey’s bro
  3. Diapers – Came along with some TMC goody bag
  4. Baby clothes – Bought from Batam. LOL
  5. Toys – Reused from Wifey’s bro and sis
  6. Baby Carrying Thingy – Reused from Wifey’s bro
  7. Some funky floor thingy which is used for baby to play in

And i reckon the next things that we need to prepare are :

  1. Hospital bag
  2. Wash all the baby clothes and stuff
  3. Prepare the baby cot with toys
  4. Change my hp
  5. Charge the camera

What else !!! What else !!! Another 40+ more days… *anxious*

It is a good thing that i don’t work in the city. ERP has been going up and more gantries have been built and activated and to me, it is getting really ridiculous.

Gantries are popping up and the prices are going up. In good times, it is fine. It doesn’t really make sense to me that they are doing all this now esp when the cost of living is going up due to oil price increase. At times, it makes me wonder if the govt is really in sync with the ppl on the ground and if they really know how bad times are. Or they just take a microview that “traffic flow is bad and we must regulate the flow !”. If their intention is to force ppl to take public transport then it is a total failure. If that is the case, then i think our scholars and ministers ought to be sacked. I feel that ERP is just a easy way out to regulate traffic flow.

Every gantry built and every increase in ERP charges creates a domino effect in Singapore. Once the ERP charges is increased, cabs are reluctant to go into city to pick up passengers bcos the fare might not cover the cost of going in. And once that happens, the next thing that will happen is that taxi companies will raise fares to attract cabs to go into the city. According to Wifey’s uncle who is a cab driver, if a person is taking a cab to Chinatown or City during peak hour, the starting fare is $12 (inclusive of all the surcharges, ERP) and that is even before the journey starts. This would most probably force ppl to take buses and mrt. So now, is our public transport system fit enough to handle the demand? If it is, what about the livelihood of the taxi drivers?  Now, ppl will have second thoughts about taking a cab and maybe they might consider buying a car and then our traffic flow will not be any better. It is a vicious cycle and when will the increases stop?? How much more would they raise? If LTA’s idea is to regulate traffic flow, what is the domino effect to cost of living and business cost?

If the intention is to modify ppl’s behaviour and take public transport then LTA should scrap all ERP charges for taxis and buses. This would drive the cost of taking public transport down and more people will be glad to take a taxi or bus to City. To me, i think that LTA must take a more holistic and board view and adjust their policy rather than taking the easy way out of just building gantries and raising prices.

Went for a check-up on Sat.

Reyes is doing fine and seems to be enjoying his last 8 weeks in Wifey’s tummy. He has been tossing and turning and dun-know-what-else-he-is-doing. He is growing hair and i hope that it is not lan-jiao moh.. Hahahahah

But poor Wifey is going thru the same thing that she had during her first trimester. She is feeling sleepy and feeling hungry.

For Wifey, other than the bloated feet and stretch marks, she has been having an excellent and happy pregnancy. She didn’t have much morning sickness or aches in her body. She is eating happily and so far, Reyes has been responding happily too. At night, she does get the occasional cramps but she seem to have found the solution for it by drinking milk before she sleeps. She does get the occasional mood swings but she get over it pretty quickly so that is a good thing.

For me, I have been watching Wifey’s tummy as it grows bigger by the day. I try to do my part to lessen her burdens like picking up her shoes and put it on the shoe rack. I also wash the dishes after she cooks and bring out the thrash. At night, i will always put my hand on her tummy to feel Reyes’ kicks and movement as i drift off to sleep. I am quite amazed by Wifey’s ability to sleep through all those movements.. Hahaha..

So far, it has been a good and amazing ride.. kekekekek..
